Jenna has chosen me for THE SUNSHINE BLOGGER AWARD.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK TO MARCH KNOWING HOW LONG LOCKDOWN/SOCIAL DISTANCING WOULD LAST, WOULD YOU HAVE TRIED TO USE THE TIME MORE PRODUCTIVELY?
Yes, if I realized how long it would last, I would like to have accomplished more in that time. I watched to much news coverage. I should have been out for more exercise enjoying the fine weather. I wished I had done more creative writing as this is very therapeutic for me. I also wish I thought about re-decorating some of our home.
However, I am pleased about what Robert and I managed to do in the garden and I am glad I have been able to do so much reading.
WHAT KIND OF SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER ARE YOU USING RIGHT NOW?
I am using a Rose Water shampoo from Neal’s Yard.
It is supposed to be a nourishing shampoo. My hair has felt rather dry this year and I hoped this would give it a boost. I have to say the scent is divine!
I spend far to much money in Neal’s Yard, but I am always tempted by the aromas of their products. There are other much more expensive health and beauty shops in our area, so I tell myself I am being sensible.
WHERE DO YOU DO MOST READING?
Probably on the sofa.
DO YOU USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO GET AROUND YOUR AREA?
Not as much as I used to. I did used to catch the bus to the nearest underground station. But this year, I don’t think I have been on a bus or the tube since the start of March.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON A FIRST AID COURSE?
Yes – around ten years ago.
ARE YOU MAKING ANY BIG PLANS FOR 2021 YET?
Not really. In my mind there are some markers that we want to celebrate, my nephew’s graduation and we also have a silver wedding anniversary in the family. I am not sure what we will be able to mark those and other events.
We are being rather shy about making plans for holidays it really does not appear to be a relaxing venture at the moment.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE ITEM OF JEWELRY?
My engagement and wedding rings are the ones that have the greatest attachment. I also have a locket that is too delicate to wear, but contains photographs of my parents from their wedding day.
WHAT WAS THE LAST ITEM YOU BOUGHT FROM AMAZON?
I bought a Thermos flask.
It is a Direct Drink flask. I ordered it in silver.
I bought it because I like to have a hot drink to sip when I go out for a walk at this time of year. Drinking cold water on a cold day was rather miserable, so from now on, I will take something warm on my daily exercise jaunt.
I have also ordered a copy of the new novella, an erotic romance, published by my dear young friend Jenna. Once it has arrived I will prepare a post to discuss it.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHANGE TO YOUR LIFESTYLE DURING OUR CRAZY 2020?
For me it’s the huge change to my working lifestyle and to the ways in which I socialize. Most socializing has moved online. We chat on zoom to our relatives and friends. Our social life really is mostly online now. That is something I could never have imagined myself going on with before this pandemic. But it seems very sensible now.
It makes me laugh now to think of how both myself and many of my workmates were bleeding money along our daily commute and at lunch breaks. I would pick up a coffee on my journey into work. I would often buy lunch from a cafe when I left the office. I never sat down to work out how much I was spending unnecessarily but I realize now it could have been a minimum of £20 per week, but was perhaps closer to £50+ per week. That as well as the cost of travel.
I realize the working from home is saving us a fortune. Our nephew moved in with is in the spring, so although the cost of our weekly food and household shop has increased, we still seem to be saving money
WHY DO SO MANY SINCERE PEOPLE BELIEVE DIFFERENT THINGS? AND DO YOU THINK IT MATTERS?
It’s an interesting question. I suppose the various conflicting opinions on vaccinations illustrates that well.
Generally, I don’t feel overly concerned about the different beliefs people adopt. Their beliefs manifest themselves as wise or unwise over time. Does it matter? Beliefs will steer the course of a person’s life and affect their attitudes, mental health and in some respects the quality of their life – either positively or negatively.
But there are extreme cases – take for example when a person’s beliefs steer them towards barbaric violence. That is wrong. Very wrong.
As for the subject of vaccines – does it matter that there are conflicting beliefs about immunisation? I think some find it very concerning. Can you force someone to go against their beliefs? Self-determination is one of the most important legal freedoms we possess. I think there may be more controversy to come on this subject during 2021.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE JAM/JELLY/PRESERVE?
I have been buying apricot jam the past few months and I am enjoying it very much.
