Swimming In A Fish Bowl

Swimming In A Fish Bowl

It took me a while to settle on a choice for today’s Song Lyric Sunday. But this week’s theme has given my the chance to feature one of my husband’s favourites.

Unless you are younger than my nephew, I don’t need to introduce the band Pink Floyd to you. This is one of their much loved (often to the emotional connection) tracks, “Wish You Were Here“.

Lyrics by: David Gilmour and Roger Waters

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
