I hope that Jim will be happy with one of the four words he has included as this week’s theme. I wondered if the theme was in connection with somebody’s upcoming wedding? Perhaps I better keep my lips tightly buttoned.
I have chosen blue…although new also features in the lyrics to this song. The track is called “Blue Feeling” and it is from The Animals. When I think of The Animals, I always think of “House Of The Rising Son”, I don’t really know much of their other repertoire. But I understand that their sound was a gritty rhythm, blues and rock amalgamation.
They are before my time, but I read a little about The Animals, and learnt they earned their band name because of their wild behaviour on stage, and that they original band members came from Newcastle in the North East of England, but was a significant turn-over in members would come and go over the years. There is also a rather dramatic account you may be interested in reading about of the consequences of postponing their 1968 Japan tour!
I also learnt that amongst the biggest fans of The Animals is none other than Bruce Springsteen. He has very warm praise for them.
