Now I hope this does not sound overly corny, but often Robert will turn to me and smile, before singing the title and most famous line from this song…”Have I told you lately that I love you?” I know this song so well, and it was a very obvious choice when I saw Jim’s theme for today included the word “greet”.
Rod Stewart – that old heartbreaker – made this song really famous, but it was actually penned and released by Van Morrison a few years earlier. I have always thought it was terribly romantic, but apparently it was originally written as a prayer. Prayer or love song – the sentiments are entirely beautiful.

Have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there's no one else above you Fill my heart with gladness take away all my sadness ease my troubles that's what you do For the morning sun in all it's glory greets the day with hope and comfort too You fill my life with laughter and somehow you make it better ease my troubles that's what you do There's a love that's divine and it's yours and it's mine like the sun And at the end of the day we should give thanks and pray to the one, to the one Have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there's no one else above you Fill my heart with gladness take away all my sadness ease my troubles that's what you do There's a love that's divine and it's yours and it's mine like the sun And at the end of the day we should give thanks and pray to the one, to the one And have I told you lately that I love you Have I told you there's no one else above you You fill my heart with gladness take away my sadness ease my troubles that's what you do Take away all my sadness fill my life with gladness ease my troubles that's what you do Take away all my sadness fill my life with gladness ease my troubles that's what you do
This is lovely Lady A. Van Morrison wrote this, but Rod sings it better. I read that it is sometimes played at funerals.

I find it is Rod’s voice that does it for me. It’s a very pretty song and I am very glad VM wrote it.

I went a little overboard trying to find greet in a song and couldn’t. I have always loved this song but greet being in it to meet the prompt is icing on the cake 🙂

Corny or not, the world doesn’t suffer from an excess of happy people, so I was glad to read this.
