Today’s Song Lyric Sunday theme includes feet, and oddly, I have discovered just how many of my favourite songs surprisingly mention the word “feet”.
I picked one that picks me up and energizes me. Of course the truth is that Robert alone was able to sweep me off my feet – and in real life it is his intellect and sharp wit that charmed me. Yet, there is nothing quite as rousing as the wonderfully Welsh Bonnie Tyler vocalising the classic dream of a “hero” – strong, fast, larger than life. A white knight upon a fiery steed, a street-wise Hercules, racing on the thunder and rising with the heat. It’s thrilling and laughable at the same time!
“Holding Out For A Hero” was a hit in the charts and quite rightly has featured in several films and commercials. It is tremendous fun and I do hope it lifts your Sunday.

Where have all the good men gone And where are all the gods? Where's the street-wise Hercules To fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and I turn, I dream of what I need I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life Larger than life Somewhere after midnight In my wildest fantasy Somewhere just beyond my reach There's someone reaching back for me Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night Up where the mountains meet the heavens above Out where the lightning splits the sea I could swear that there's someone somewhere watching me Through the wind and the chill and the rain And the storm and the flood I can feel his approach Like the fire in my blood Like the fire in my blood Like the fire in my blood Like the fire in my blood Like the fire in my blood I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light He's gotta be sure And he's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night

Nice choice Lady A. This song contains a rallying cry for a hero of great magnitude, as he is needed again and must rise from the ashes to save the day once more, so he can defy almost-impossible odds, blurring the line between reality and fantasy. It’s a very strong and romantic song that gives visions of the idealistic hero that fights for the cause of right and seeks to uphold the virtuous, what a lot of folks think that heroism should be.
