Today’s Song Lyric Sunday theme has given me chance to reminisce over a band who provided me with many enjoyable evenings, relaxing with a glass of Chardonnay and contemplating the wonders of life. There was a time (I think back in the nineties) when I used to adore The Lightning Seeds. Their song “Perfect” is still one of my favourite all-time songs, and I am sure their contribution to football anthems will keep their names in stone for a long time. I can still remember them providing the soundtrack for some very happy evenings with friends.
This particular song “Pure” from The Lightning Seeds (a Liverpool band), I have chosen because the lyrics are simply lovely. It was a track from their debut album “Cloudcuckooland“. It was the first song written and sung by Ian Broudie. He was already firmly planted in the music industry, having played with several bands and an experienced producer. So it was quite exciting when he started to record music alone. And we were blessed with some fantastic music as a result.
This particular track – you may or may not enjoy the arrangement – but read the lyrics – they are sheer loveliness.
