I started to think of all the songs that I can recognize just by hearing the first three or four seconds when I saw Jim’s theme for today’s Song Lyric Sunday. Some of my favourites on the list I complied I have already featured in other Song Lyric Sunday themes.
I have chosen a track that has an iconic introduction, that continues throughout the entire song. There is not much deviation at all from the opening bars. But somehow it works. Although it is a song that I can only bear once in a while, there is something unique about it that makes me grin.
The track is called “Addicted To Love” and is by Robert Palmer. Another famous musician complimented it as the “perfect pop song” (Noddy Holder). It certainly is a memorable track and instantly recognizable as soon as you hear the introduction.

I find it very helpful that Jim gives us his theme selections in advance allowing me to schedule these Song Lyric Sunday posts. Sunday is a rather busy day for us, so it is often late in the day that I have the opportunity to link my posts to Jim’s.
I do think Jim’s event is fun, so taking part us purely for enjoyment.

I’ve been doing these since June and, like you, I really enjoy them. It does help being able to plan them, doesn’t it. I write mine on Saturday and just add in Jim’s link on Sunday morning. Nice and easy, as my day doesn’t sound as busy as yours!
