I have been telling everybody I know to read this book – the best book I read in 2023. I was engrossed from the moment I read the Preface. Full of characters with fascinatingly foibles and quirks – secrets and insecurities galore. A celebration of the patchwork of humanity that makes up just one London neighbourhood. Brilliant!!! – now I want to read everything Jude has ever published.

I loved that feeling of coming across a recipe and knowing I have almost all of the ingredients in my pantry. We seem to have an abundance of lentils at the moment.

So incredibly more-ish. Our only complaint was that a little tub of Paprika & Red Lentil Houmous is really not enough.

April's edition of LADY LEWIS' LIBRARY features "Dune Girl" the personal journey of Maggie Brady that starts out with shock that throws her world upside down.

These white chocolate millionaires shortbread bites are fun a super indulgent treat. It is amazing how many little bites - all rich and sweet - come out of one 20cmX20cm brownie tin. Perfect for a firepit party!

A long time wish of mine came true - we had chance to visit the National Trust property that was used 30 years ago (can you believe it?!!!) in the BBC dramatization of "Pride & Prejudice" - featuring Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. The BBC used Lyme Park (near Stockport) as Darcy's Derbyshire home Pemberley. It made quite an impression on Lizzie Bennett (played by Jennifer Ehle). It made quite an impression on us as well!

It has been a little chilly of late...a great reason to use the firepit when we have guests. Also a great reason to make a huge pot of vegan chilli - this one using Vivera's Plant based shawarma which worked so well in providing a contrasting texture to the beans.

One of my favourites... apple bear - who knew??!!!

One breakfast that I never seem to become bored of is avocado and chilli flakes on sour dough toast.

There are many wondrous foodie creations that owe their exceptional flavour to the oddity that is the Jerusalem artichoke. Proof that you should never judge by apperances.
