The Happy Sound Of A Carousel

The Happy Sound Of A Carousel

Jim has picked a theme for today’s Song Lyric Sunday that turned out to be a little depressing. Musicians who have died at the age of twenty-seven, often due to drug abuse. I knew of around five or six infamous musicians who had succumbed to drug addiction and who suffered the consequences.

I did not know about Rudy Lewis who sang in The Drifters for around four years had died at the age of twenty-seven. Twenty-seven seems so very young and I can only imagine his family must have been devastated. I have picked a very famous track recorded by The Drifters – “Under The Broadwalk”.

I am going to cheer myself up by supervising my nephew while he attempts to bake something for BLOGGERS’ BAKE OFF. Enjoy your Sunday.

Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be making love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk

From the park you hear the happy sound of a carousel
Mmm, you can almost taste the hot dogs and french fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be making love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk

Oh, under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) Out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) People walking above
(Under the boardwalk) We'll be falling in love
Under the boardwalk, boardwalk
